In March 2017 OMA Ghana won the CSR award for Socially Responsible Company of the year at Ghana Maritime Shipping Awards.

OMA Ghana was presented the award for having “shown a particularly strong commitment to CSR and to employee and community welfare and has shown creativity and innovation in the use of CSR initiatives.”

We were delighted with this award as it is an endorsement of OMA’s flagship programme Futurestars but also of our commitment to conduct our business activities in a responsible, transparent and ethical way, seen through our ISO management programme and Trace certifications.

Futurestars

Futurestars is an exciting education through sports programme working with five schools in Tema, Ghana to deliver PE & sports coaching and assisting in the refurbishment of the participating schools.

The project was founded by a joint venture between OMA and Yinson Production WA Ltd in 2015. In 2017 OMA appointed Simon Milton to spearhead the project as OMA CSR director. Futurestars is now a registered UK
charity with Prime Insurance, Fendercare Marine and Hapag-Lloyd all on board as partners and there are plans to extend the charity along the West African coast.
